Ya Dias
June is almost over, and I am happy to report that it has been a much better month than May. I am still struggling to find work, although I’ve been able to fill my days by running, watching World Cup (Viva azzurri!) and studying for the GRE (to the great relief of my father). In July I am planning on starting a Community Health Campaign in which I will travel out to each of the aldeas (rural communities) completing an extensive needs assessment and attempt to prescribe remedies for the most salient of problems., possibly by giving charlas, raising awareness, and collaborating with other organizations. It’s an ambitious task, but I’ve got the mayor on board, which I am hoping will be a big help.
In other news I have discovered the glory of the salsa dance. Last weekend I met up with some friends in Santa Rosa de Copan (the departmental capital) and we had an instructor teach us a few salsa steps. Some of us are planning on taking a voyage to San Salvador to perfect our moves in the salsa clubs there. I am also going to be in Teguz in early July, and then in Ceiba the following week for a conference. July should go by pretty quickly, I am hoping ….
